Jacobs Virtual Academy (JVA) Private Lessons Sessions

The Jacobs Virtual Academy Private Lessons Sessions is an extension of our Jacobs Virtual Academy program, which has been offering one-on-one musical instruction in a hybrid setting through partnerships with Indiana middle and high schools. The program is now expanding to offer virtual instruction in a variety of instruments and voice to pre-college and adult learners residing outside of Monroe County, Indiana.

Instruction is available for flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, piano, all voice types, violin, viola, cello, double bass, concert and popular percussion, drum set, trumpet, French horn, euphonium, trombone, tuba, guitar and music theory.

Participants may select a 6 week lesson plan or 12 week lesson plan for private lessons.

Academy faculty

Kim Carballo

Kimberly Carballo is senior lecturer in music in chamber and collaborative music, and director of the Jacobs Virtual Academy at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She joined the Chamber and Collaborative Music Department in 2016, its inaugural year.

Tuition

6-week private lessons: $375
12-week private lessons: $750
- Both options are subject to a $50 non-refundable registration fee, due at the time of registration, that is credited towards the overall tuition rates listed above.

Spring 2026:

Registration and Payment Deadline for 12 week and 1st 6 weeks: January 19
Registration and Payment Deadline for 2nd 6 weeks: March 23

How to Apply

Eligibility: Open to all ages to those residing outside of Monroe County, Indiana.
Registration: Complete the online registration form. No auditions are required for enrollment. Late registrations may be accepted pending space availability.
Payment: payment is accepted via credit card of check. For any questions regarding payment, please contact IU Conferences at iuconfs@iu.edu or call 1-800-933-9330. Please do not send checks or any forms of payment to the Office of Jacobs Academy.
