The harp is a heavenly instrument that makes even your first fumbling notes sound great. The Harp Academy is pleased to announce that starting this year, we will offer harp lessons to students of all ages and levels of playing.
Jacobs Harp Academy
Academy faculty
Elzbieta Szmyt, a native of Poland, is Professor of Music and Chair of the Harp Department at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She has performed numerous recitals and taught master classes in North America, Europe and Asia. Szmyt holds graduate degrees from the Chopin Academy of Music, Warsaw University and Indiana University.
Fan-Fen Tai, a native of Taiwan, is an adjunct faculty at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She holds degrees from Indiana University (D.M), the University of Arizona and Taipei National University of Arts. Tai has won numerous competitions and is avid chamber musician who formed the harp and violin duo, BloomingDuo.

Spring 2022 registration
Designed for students ages 6–18. The students will have the opportunity to take harp lessons from harp faculty at the Jacobs School of Music. No musical experience is necessary, although 1 to 2 years of piano in addition to a sense of humor are helpful. An interview is required before beginning classes. Harp students receive one private lesson each week, participate in weekly master classes, have opportunity to play in harp ensemble, and perform in a class recital at the end of each semester. Students will have the option of taking lessons virtually and in person. Adult Harp Program
Students of any age or musical experience are invited to register for the Adult Harp Academy. Adult harp students receive one 1-hour private harp lesson each week and participate in group master classes and harp ensemble. Students will have the option of taking lessons virtually and in person.
