In Young Winds, we provide small-group lessons and full band experience to elementary and middle school-age students who have already begun playing woodwind, brass, string (upright) bass, or percussion instruments. We supplement the instruction your child receives in school band programs, strengthening their musicianship in a safe and positive environment.
Brian Shaw is Assistant Professor in the Jacobs music education department, where he works with the next generation of music teachers. He previously taught at Ohio State University, and was an award-winning music teacher and administrator in Indiana and Illinois. He is excited to welcome young musicians to IU!
Brandi Perkins is a PhD music education student at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she serves as the program coordinator for Young Winds and as an associate instructor for undergraduate music education courses. Prior to IU, Brandi taught general music and band in Florida and earned a graduate degree in music performance from Youngstown State University in Ohio.

Meeting schedule: Program meetings to take place weekly on Saturday mornings, 9-11AM.
