Students of all levels with an interest in singing jazz are welcome to this summer’s inaugural Jazz Voice Workshop, hosted online by the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Over three days, this workshop will guide you through fundamentals of jazz singing, through active coaching by IU’s world-class faculty and special guests. Additionally, students will be exposed to special guest town halls and modules in listening and theory. Those applicants who elect to sing will be given one-on-one coaching as part of a daily studio class, as well as the opportunity to sing in a final recital.
This workshop is open to students of all levels and abilities.
Performers will be coached in the prep session, studio classes, and final touch-up session, and will perform on the concert. See schedule below. There is a limit of 8 performers. These spots will go to the first 8 performers to enroll.
We ask performers to prepare at least 2 jazz standards. Plan to submit the names of the songs and the key that you sing them in by August 2. Charts are recommended, but not necessary.
